Options to allocate Annual Leave for part time employees

It will depend on your own preference as the HR manager, how you proceed.

Both examples work, but some will suit different companies in different ways.

EXAMPLE: Liz works Monday to Friday from 9.30 to 1.30. (20 hours)

The company works 40 hours a week in general, with 20 days Annual Leave.

So Liz is entitled to 10 days Annual Leave as a part timer.

Option 1:

Put 10 days Annual Leave in Liz’s account.

When Liz requests Annual leave, she requests only a half day (am).

This will reduce her AL from 10 to 9.5.

So Liz has 20 half days holidays available to her.

Option 2:

Put 20 days Annual Leave in Liz’s account.

When Liz requests Annual leave, she requests a full day (her full day being 4 hours).

This will reduce her AL from 20 to 19.

So Liz has 20 of her working days holidays available to her.
